Happy New Year!

Tonight we rang in the new year, Texas style. We joined about a quarter-million people in downtown San Antonio for music and a huge fireworks show.

Happy New Year!

PS. I know that four comes after five. Their countdown was a little imprecise, and I was trying to catch up.

Mad Hatted

We had a fairly quiet morning today. It was a nice time to walk around and see the sites. We visited the Market Square, where I bought myself a cowboy hat (pictured photo is not the actual hat, but is similar).

This evening we visited Six Flags and went on some awesome roller coasters. And had corn. Grilled corn. And funnel cake. Ahhh....

Perhaps you're wondering why there haven't been any videos in this blog. I promised vidoes. However, since we had such a hard time getting here due to airline delays and since I lost my luggage (which has still not been found), I haven't really been in the mood to film stuff. And although my video camera is save and sound in my carry -on, my digital still camera was in my checked (lost) luggage. This evening I purchased a small camera with my airline insurance money, and will hopefully have some stuff up here later. Mayyyyybe videos, but probably just photos. Sorry.

Anyway, I'm off to open my new camera...wearing my hat.

AlamoYEAH!

Well, we're in San Antonio and this morning we picked up our luggage from the airport (Long story). All the luggage except mine. *Sigh*

So I got some clothes at Wal-Mart, so that should do until they (hopefully) find my bag.

Tonight, ALAMO BOWL!

Let's Do This Thing!

Well, most of us made it to Austin. We rented a Durango and drove to San Antonio.

Hooray!

More to come.

Sh*t Sandwich

Well, we're still in Chicago.

We're at O'Hare Airport on the waiting list to San Antonio or Ausin. We spent the night at a hotel (on the dime of American Airlines), but we had no luggage. Apparently, our plane took so long to get to Chicago that the guys who load the luggage onto the racks had gone home.

(Sitting in the gate waiting area just now, one of the Northwestern University football players has just sat with us. He'll be playing in the Alamo Bowl tomorrow, which we will be attending, God willing.)

I haven't had much sleep, and I've just had my first meal in a long while (McDonalds in Chicago serves fried chicken on a buiscuit for breakfast!).

Here's hoping I have better news next time I write.

ChicagoYEAH!

Well, we're in Chicago. After a lengthy weather delay (fog), we finally boarded the plane many hours late and having only a slim chance to catch our connection to San Antonio. Then the captain announced that they were having a mechanical problem and that we'd be suck for a couple more hours.
Anyway, we are in Chicago and it's after midnight. We'll probably have to stay here for Sunday and catch several different flights to SA on Monday. We'll definitely miss our theatre tickets (Cats), and we are in danger of missing out on the Alamo Bowl. Craps.

As I type this, I'm sitting on my laptop beside the baggage claim waiting (forever!) for our luggage. The airline is putting us up in a hotel at some point, but I don't know when or where. I'm just following the crowd.

Hopefully I'll have better news tomorrow.

San AntonioYEAH!

This will be the place for hearing about B&b's trip to San Antonio in the coming weeks.
